Dancing Dogs Yoga in downtown Savannah, GA is a Baptiste Inspired Affiliate Studio. They have tons of power classes (heated vinyasa) every week, and one deep stretch class on Sunday evenings (which sounds delicious but I’ve never been able to get there).
Classes are heated, so expect to SWEAT (and maybe slip all over your mat. Yes, that much sweat). Each teacher I’ve experienced has led a great class with what I find to be the hallmark of Baptiste style teachers: personality, enthusiasm, clear and measured speech. Once you get to savasana, they bring a cool, damp lavender towel. Amazing.
Shelley, the owner, is a bright light of energy and a force in her community and the world. You can feel her love for her yoga community, her love for Savannah, and her commitment to service. Her enthusiasm is contagious!
Shelley also leads some retreats to seriously cool places, like Kenya and Iceland. Really. Cool.
The studio is upstairs at 18 E Broughton Street. They have really awesome retail, and I highly recommend checking out the Dancing Dogs Yoga branded shirts. Shelley has done an incredible job of creating some really cute tops. They also have cool leggings, books, and other stuff.
There are two restrooms, a shower, and a really fancy filtered water machine for water bottles. The studio space is long and bright, with windows looking out over Broughton Street. There are cubbies inside the studio for your stuff.
They are completely paperless (yay!) so I recommend using your MindBody app (or the studio website) to register for your class in advance. Saves a ton of time once you arrive.
They also just launched Beetnix Superfood and Juice Bar on the first floor, right under the studio! I can’t wait to eat there; they were not yet open last time I visited. A recent post shows they are now serving fresh cold-pressed juice, smoothies, salads, puddings and smoothie bowls!! I saw a photo of the Warrior II Pitaya Bowl. It looks delicious.
